Aleksander Golob, MSc., MBA
Chairman of the Board, President of the Board of GOMAR d.d.
Aleksander Golob is the President of the Board, founder, and major shareholder of GOMAR d.d., a Slovenian private consulting enterprise. Aleksander is an engineer by training and also holds an MBA from the University of Maribor. His financial expertise was acquired during a banking career in a prominent investment bank in Slovenia. Aleksander is specialized in financial and tax consultation.
Matej Orešič, PhD, Prof.
Founder, Chief Scientific Advisor
Matej is the main founder of Zora, company's Chief Scientific Advisor and a Research Professor at VTT. Since 2003 he has been leading the research group "Quantitative Biology and Bioinformatics" at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. Matej's research interests extend from biomedical applications of metabolomics to integrative bioinformatics method development. His recent investigations include longitudinal metabolic profiles of children who progressed to Type 1 Diabetes (DIPP study), studies of statin induced myopathy, as well as investigations of lipidomic profiles associated with lipotoxicity induced insulin resistance. Prior to joining VTT, Matej was the principal scientist, computational biology and modelling at Beyond Genomics (currently known as BG Medicine), Waltham, Massachusetts and bioinformatician at LION Bioscience Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Matej Orešič holds a PhD in biophysics from Cornell University.
Heikki Miettinen, MSc.
Board Member, Investment Director
Heikki Miettinen is the investment director at Innofinance Oy, a Finnish venture capital company. Heikki has an MSc. in a civil engineering with additional marketing and management studies. His career spans two decades in senior management and director positions in the construction industry. Heikki has held positions with regional responsibilites over Baltic States and Central European countries. Heikki is a Board member of several small and medium sized enterprises.
Tapio Koivu, PhD.
Board Member, Executive Vice President of VTT
Currently, Executive Vice President at Technical Research Centre of Finland, VTT, Tapio Koivu has the responsibility over IP business of VTT. This includes management of IP portfolio of VTT ( over 1, 000 patents plus other assets), portfolio of start-up companies (17 in Dec. 2009). Licensing and sales of IP is also part of IP Business at VTT. Prior to his current responsibilities he established the VTT Silicon Valley operations, was a research fellow at the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering at Stanford and before moving to the U.S., he headed a division called Strategic Technology Development at the VTT Building and Transport with responsibilities covering industry collaboration and technology strategies for partnership level customers. He holds a Ph.D. in construction management from Tampere University of Technology.
